Kanna Smokers Cut - 5 Gram
OverviewSceletium Tortuosum (Kanna, Kougoed)
Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum), also called Kauwgoed, Channa, or Kougoed, is a South Africa-based fertility plant known for its psychoactive and antidepressant activity. The plant has been used for prehistoric times by hunter-gatherers and farmers who travel around South Africa. The first reports of this plant are already from 1662, Jan van Riebeeck wrote about it. The fermented plant is initially chewed, and the psychoactive substances are absorbed by the swallowing of the released saliva.
Kanna improves on intake mood, reduces fear and stress and suppresses the hunger sensation. It causes mild euphoria with initially increased alertness, followed later by sedation. Users also describe enhanced empathy in others. In high doses, side effects may occur such as headache, nausea and panic attacks. The plant would not have hallucinogenic effects, as opposed to some literature. Kanna works synergistically in combination with some other psychoactive drugs, such as cannabis.
Kanna has anxiolytic effect and improves mood. The main alkaloid is mesembrine, which functions as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and as a potent inhibitor of the enzyme phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4).
Kanna can be used in several ways. Tea can be taken, you can just swallow the powder and there is also the Kanna Tincture (alcohol concentrate).
Kanna Smokers Cut is usually used to mix (the name says it already) with tobacco and to put on tea.
Sceletium tortuosum is thought to act as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) in the brain. Sceletium tortuosum in combination with common psychiatric medicines, including other SSRIs (such as Prozac) and MAO inhibitors can lead to injury or death!
