Rapé (pronounced Ha-Pee) is a sacred shamanic "medicine" that has been used by tribal healers for thousands of years and is an essential part of their tribal culture and history. Rapé is a complex mix of pulverized plants.
Rapé also means "dust of the ancients". It has been used by various indigenous tribes, including the Matses and Huni Kuin Indians (kaxinawás), for thousands of years.
Rapé is ideal for ceremonies such as Ayahuasca or other jungle medicines. It can also be used as incense in everyday life.
There are many different types of Rapé. All of these formulas contain additional ingredients that all enrich your Rapé experience in their own way.
THE EFFECT OF RAPÉ
The effect of Rapé consumption depends on the specific mix of plants and ash used. It can range from fairly mild to increased focus and clarity. But it can also be highly psychedelic and transformative. Rapé can help to break negative thought patterns, free the mind from confusion and contribute to connection with yourself and the universe.
Snorting Rapé helps the body get rid of waste products and negative energy. The powder can elicit a strong bodily response that clears the sinuses and airways. Vomiting during a Rapé ritual is also quite common. Cleaning the body is part of the cleansing and purifying effect.
HOW DO YOU USE RAPÉ?
Rapé is certainly not a “party drug”. It is traditionally taken during spiritual ceremonies and whoever uses it usually has a specific purpose in mind. Indigenous tribes use it for spiritual or physical healing, to ask the spirits for advice or to connect with nature and the universe.
There are two ways to use Rapé. The traditional way is to take it with the help of a second person. Here, your partner uses a pipe called a soplada to blow the powder into your nostrils.
You can also administer the Rapé powder yourself using a wooden pipe called kuripe. The kuripe is a V-shaped pipe that has a mouthpiece and nose end.
Put a pea-sized amount of Rapé on the nose of the kuripe. Place the mouthpiece of the pipe in your mouth and gently insert the nose end into one of your nostrils.
Lean forward and blow the Rapé powder into your nostril. Repeat with your other nostril.
Keep your head bent over to keep the mix from going down your throat.
You can increase or decrease your dose depending on your tolerance and the effect you want to achieve.
