CBD Information
What is CBD Oil?
CBD is short for cannabidiol. This is a scientific name for a substance that occurs in the cannabis plant. CBD is one of the 104 substances from the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids such as CBD are formed in the leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant.
Another well-known cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. CBD and THC are often confused, yet this is completely unjustified. Both substances have different properties. CBD is not psychoactive, so high CBD is impossible, unlike THC, which is often used recreationally.
For several years, many different products have been produced in which CBD is a prominent ingredient. CBD oil is by far the most popular form because you can dose precisely by taking these CBD drops. Another important advantage of the oil is that the CBD is quickly absorbed into your bloodstream by being absorbed by the mucous membranes under the tongue.
The production of CBD oil?
CBD oil consists of CBD paste which in most cases is diluted with hemp seed or olive oil. Most CBD oil is produced by CO2 extraction, which preserves the various cannabinoids in the oil. This means that an oil produced by CO2 extraction contains not only CBD, but even more cannabinoids. The other cannabinoids and the CBD together can reinforce each other and when this is the case, we speak of the so-called "entourage effect". The CBD oils produced by CO2 extraction are often referred to as RAW variants.
Another extraction method with which CBD can be produced is through oil extraction. In this extraction method, only the tops of the hemp plant are used. The final extraction is done by heating, causing all other cannabinoids to be lost. This means that in this oil only CBD as a cannabinoid is present. The CBD oils produced by oil extraction are usually referred to as CBD oil Pure. The taste of the CBD oil pure is somewhat nutty, this in contrast to the RAW variants, the taste of which is often experienced as bitter.
Every human body also produces cannabinoids in the endocannabinoid system. This system has been known for more than thirty years and is of major importance for various important processes in our body. This could include pain perception, a stable night's sleep, our mood, etc.
How do I know which oil is of good quality?
There are many different brands of CBD oil on the market. All our CBD products are provided with a "batch number". This can be found on the bottom or side of the box or bottle of the product. Whenever a batch of oil is made, a sample will be sent to the laboratory for analysis. Here it is checked whether the cannabinoids are actually present and in what quantity. The results are ultimately included in an analysis report. We have reported on all products that are accessible to everyone. You can also always request the analysis reports from us.
How do you use CBD?
There are different types of CBD products, each with a different intake method.
Oral intake
The most popular product, the CBD oil, usually comes in a pipette bottle with which the oil can easily be dripped under the tongue. Intake under the tongue ensures a quick absorption of the active substances by the mucous membranes under the tongue. The oil can also be diluted with water or fruit juice or dripped over the food. The latter method is a particularly good method for children or pets.
The CBD paste and the CBD crystals can also be applied under the tongue and absorbed through the mucous membranes under the tongue. In addition, the pasta and crystals can be mixed with a vegetable oil, and then taken in the same way as the regular CBD oil. CBD paste and crystals usually contain a high percentage of CBD.
CBD oil has a bitter, natural taste that some cannot get used to. In that case, the tasteless capsules are a good alternative. The CBD capsules are filled with the same oil as the oil from the bottles, however the capsules disintegrate in the stomach and therefore the CBD is absorbed in the stomach and intestines in this case. In this case it takes a little longer before the CBD is absorbed into your body, however, the CBD with this intake form will be present in the body longer.
When CBD is taken orally, the active ingredients will be active after 30 minutes and remain in the body for about 6-8 hours.
External use
The ointments, creams and skin oils are suitable for external use in humans and animals. The cannabinoids are absorbed by the receptors in the skin and hair follicles. When this dosage form is used in an animal with a thick coat, it is recommended to shave the hair in the affected area first. In this way, the CBD reaches the skin better and can be absorbed better.
When CBD is applied externally, the active substances will mainly be locally active. The CBD in this case will not be widely absorbed by the bloodstream.
Vaporizing
Vaporizing, or vaporizing, CBD is considered the most relaxing way to take it. Also, this way of intake is better for health than smoking cannabis because there is no combustion and therefore no toxic substances get into the lungs. The active substances enter directly into the lungs and are thus quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. Vaporizing CBD is done with a vaporizer. Our e-liquids are suitable for any universal vaporizer.
When the CBD is evaporated, the substances will be active immediately and will be immediately absorbed by the bloodstream. The active substances will remain in the body for about 2-4 hours.
Rectal intake
Endoca has developed a CBD suppository for this effective way of intake. The CBD suppositories can be inserted both rectally and vaginally and are therefore absorbed by the bloodstream very quickly.
What is one CBD drop?
CBD oil comes in a handy pipette bottle, with which the oil can easily be dripped under the tongue. When the bottle cap is squeezed, the glass tube will fill with oil. By squeezing the pipette briefly, one drop at a time will leave the glass tube. However, the number of drops in one bottle often depends on the producer. Among other things, the viscosity of the liquid (how "viscous" the oil is) plays an important role in this. The number of drops in one bottle can therefore deviate slightly per bottle for this reason. Usually a 10 ml bottle contains 200 drops, a 30 ml bottle contains about 600 drops.
Who is CBD suitable for?
Both a human and an animal body have an endocannabinoid system. CBD is therefore suitable for both humans and animals. The weight of the person or animal influences how many milligrams of CBD to take. Children are also allowed to use CBD, however in the case of smaller children (<10 years) we recommend a light concentration, for example 2.5%.
Legality
The demand for products with CBD has risen sharply in the Netherlands in recent years, but what about legality? CBD is 100% legal in the Netherlands. This is because the oil contains no, or only negligible, amount of THC. THC is the psychoactive substance that is common in the cannabis plant and responsible for the well-known “high”.
Because it is impossible to get high from the products in our webshop, these products can be legally ordered and used. There are rules on legality for each country in the EU. If you still have questions about this, do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to answer your questions and help you out.
Which percentage?
Which concentration is most suitable differs greatly per person. The CBD oils that can be found in our webshop vary in strength from 3% to 30% CBD. This percentage indicates the percentage of cannabidiol (CBD) of the whole oil, so a 3% jar of 10 ml contains at least 300 mg CBD. We recommend the 3% for small children and pets under 15 kg. CBD oil with 5% concentration is average and suitable for the whole family.
There is often a need for a higher concentration. The oil with 10% CBD is by far our most popular product and there is even a 30% concentration available. The products with the highest concentration of CBD are the CBD paste and the CBD crystals. The paste is available in 10% and the CBD crystals even contain 98% CBD.
What dosage
Taking the right dose seems to be very important with CBD. However, it is not clear to everyone what the correct dosage is.
The dosage differs per person and the strength of the CBD product that is used. We always recommend starting slowly, gradually building up and listening carefully to your body. We send a clear manual with every bottle of oil.
A bottle of CBD oil often states a percentage, while we also often talk about milligrams of CBD. You can easily calculate the number of milligrams in one drop of your oil by dividing the total number of milligrams of CBD by the number of drops from your bottle. One 10 ml bottle contains approximately 220 drops, one 30 ml bottle contains approximately 660 drops.
What is the difference between hemp and cannabis (the cannabis plant)?
Most people think that hemp and cannabis are the same, but it most certainly is not. Hemp plants are mainly used for industrial and medical applications, where cannabis plants are mainly intended for recreational use. The hemp plant and cannabis plant (cannabis plant) do come from the same family, but differ in the concentration of substances, especially THC and CBD. The hemp plants contain a lot of CBD and little THC and the cannabis plants contain a lot of THC and little CBD. THC is the substance that makes people stoned (or high) and is therefore also prohibited in the Netherlands.
The hemp plant
What many people don't know is that the hemp plant is a very versatile plant. Hemp has the strongest natural fiber in the world and has more than 50,000 different applications.
For example, the stem of the hemp plant can be used to make cardboard, paper, packaging material and plastic. The flowers are a source of cannabinoids, which is why they are used for the production of food supplements (CBD oil, for example) and various edibles. The seeds are rich in vitamins and minerals, proteins and various fatty acids. For that reason, the seeds are used in the production of hemp seed oil, hemp milk, body care products and industrial products, such as paint. The roots of the hemp plant are used as natural compost and are useful for phytoremediation.
A major advantage of the cultivation of the hemp plant is that it can grow very quickly and sustainably and can therefore be very interesting to start growing on a large scale. A hemp plant can reach a height of about 3 meters in 100 days and due to its high plant density, this plant is very effective in controlling stubborn weeds. For this reason, less pesticides or fertilizers are needed to grow properly.
Everything you need to know about CBD!
The cannabis plant
Unlike the hemp plant, the cannabis plant contains large amounts of THC. This cannabinoid is responsible for the psychoactive effect. Cannabis is primarily grown to obtain THC.
The growing process of the cannabis plant is another clear difference between the two plants. With cannabis plants, it is mainly important that the flower tops are as large as possible, because this contains a lot of THC. Cannabis plants are also unable to naturally control weeds.
Another difference between the plants is the smell. In general, cannabis has a very predominant and strong fragrance that you can smell from a great distance.
The cultivation of a hemp plant is legal in most countries due to the minimal concentration of THC. This is not the case with the cannabis plant. In most countries, high penalties are given for growing cannabis plants. In the Netherlands, however, a tolerance policy is applied, which allows you to buy 5 grams of cannabis in a coffee shop.
What is the difference between cannabis oil and CBD oil?
The terms CBD oil and cannabis oil are also often confused with each other, but these oils both have very different properties. Cannabis oil is made from cannabis plants, which contain a lot of THC. The oil is mainly produced from the tops of the plant, which are also available in coffee shops, for example. Cannabis plants are known for their high concentrations of THC and are mainly grown for recreational purposes.
What is CBD oil then? CBD oil is oil made from the hemp plant. This plant contains only traces of THC. However, this plant does contain many other cannabinoids and active substances, such as CBD.
CBD is not psychoactive and is mainly used medicinally. Because CBD was previously not considered an important cannabinoid and there was a lot of demand for psychoactive weed, the growers mainly focused on producing cannabis with the highest possible THC content. As a result, over the years the cannabis plants have started to contain less CBD and more THC. Many cannabis strains no longer contain CBD. Hemp plants, on the other hand, contain a lot of CBD and very little THC.
CBD oil is obtained from the hemp plant, which can be grown completely legally. CBD oil is used for young and old and even animals are increasingly receiving CBD. The THC percentage in CBD oil must be less than 0.2% to be legally sold.
CBD oil and cannabis oil can both be used diluted or undiluted. The undiluted versions have a viscous structure. This viscous substance can be diluted with a natural oil, such as hemp seed or olive oil. This is how CBD oil is created.
